From the beginning at Tuskegee Institute in 1968, the Commodores were known as smart guys, but they were funky, too. Smart and funky enough to open for the Jackson 5, to be discovered by Berry Gordy in the process, and to sell more than 60 million records for Motown, becoming its largest selling act in the 1970s and 1980s. The Commodores racked up a string of hits including “Machine Gun,” “Brick House,” “Easy,” “Three Times A Lady,” “Sail On,” “Oh No,” “Slippery When Wet,” “To Hot Ta Trot,” “Lady (You Bring Me Up),” the Grammy-winning “Night Shift” and many others that literally moved an entire generation.
Multi-platinum-selling WAR, the original street band, has been sharing its timeless music and message of brotherhood and harmony for five decades before millions across the globe. WAR has sold more than 50 million records since its formation to include 10 Billboard Top 10 hits. Top 40 hits include the timeless classics “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “Low Rider,” “The World Is A Ghetto,” “The Cisco Kid,” and many more. Fifteen of WAR’s albums have achieved Gold Status in the United States and many of them have gone multi-platinum.
